If you have seen "MCP" mentioned around Redreach and had no idea what it meant, start here. This article explains it from scratch, gets you connected, and shows you the first thing to ask. No technical background needed, and nothing to install.
MCP in one sentence
MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is an open standard that lets an AI assistant reach out to an outside service and pull in live data.
The easiest way to picture it is a USB port for AI assistants. Before MCP, every app had to be wired into every assistant separately, and mostly that never happened. With MCP, a service publishes one "port" and any assistant that speaks the standard can plug straight into it.
Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor, VS Code, Claude Code and Codex all speak it. So does Redreach.
What you get once it's connected
Your AI assistant can read your Redreach data directly while you are chatting with it. So instead of opening the dashboard, finding the threads worth replying to, copying them somewhere and pasting them into Claude with an explanation, you just ask:
Show me the best Reddit threads we should reply to today, sorted by intent and whether the thread ranks on Google.
Your assistant fetches the live data itself and answers. It can reach your Google-ranking threads, fresh keyword matches, full thread text and comments, brand and competitor mentions with sentiment, subreddit insights and your outreach CRM.
The real advantage is combination. Your assistant can take your Reddit mentions and cross-reference them against a support export, a positioning doc or last quarter's roadmap, all in one conversation. That is the part a dashboard cannot do.
What you need
A Growth, Professional or Agency plan. MCP access is included on all three at no extra charge, along with the REST API. There is no separate bill and no metered pricing, your assistant uses the same account, projects and limits you already have. If your subscription lapses, connections stop working until it is renewed.
An AI tool that supports MCP. Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, Cursor and VS Code all do, and so do most others.
The server address
Whatever tool you use, it asks for a server address. This is it:

If you paste that address into a normal browser tab you will get a page saying "This is an MCP endpoint, not a web page". That is expected and it means the server is running. The address is meant for your AI tool, not for browsing.
How connecting works
Every connection follows the same three beats, whichever tool you use.
Step 1: Add the server
In your AI tool, find where it adds connectors or MCP servers, and paste the address above. Name it Redreach.
Step 2: Approve it in your browser
Your tool opens a browser window on Redreach. Sign in if you are not already, then click Approve.
This is the same flow as "Sign in with Google". Your AI tool never sees your Redreach password, and you can revoke the connection from your dashboard at any time.
Step 3: Ask your first question
Ask your assistant:
Which Redreach projects do you have access to?
This does two jobs at once. It confirms the connection is working, and it tells you the project names your assistant can act on. If you run more than one project, name the one you want in your next message and your assistant will stick with it for the rest of the conversation.
Now pick your tool
The exact clicks differ per tool. Pick yours:
- Connect Redreach to Claude - desktop, web and mobile. The most common setup, and the one that turns Redreach on everywhere you use Claude
- Connect Redreach to ChatGPT - works on Plus and above
- Connect Redreach to Claude Code - one terminal command
- Connect Redreach to Codex - uses a token rather than the browser sign-in
- Connect Redreach to Gemini - via the Gemini CLI
- Connect Redreach to Cursor - one-click install
- Connect Redreach to VS Code - one-click install
- Connect Redreach to any other MCP client - Windsurf, Zed, Continue and friends
If your tool can't open a browser
A few setups cannot do the browser approval: Codex, headless servers and continuous integration systems. For those, Redreach also supports connecting with a token.
You create it in Account Settings → MCP, at the bottom of the page, then paste it into your tool's config as a header. The per-tool articles above show exactly where it goes.
Connecting more than one tool
You can connect as many tools as you like to the same account. Each connection is separate, appears individually in your dashboard, and can be revoked on its own without affecting the others.
Teammates connect their own tools with their own Redreach logins, and each person sees exactly the projects they already have access to.
One thing it will never do
Your assistant can find threads, read them and draft replies. It cannot post, comment, vote or send a DM on Reddit. A human reviews every draft and posts it from their own account.
This is deliberate and it is not a setting you can switch on. Automated posting is the fastest way to get a Reddit account banned.
